New for 2022 is the Supreme M5Pro goalie stick from Bauer. The M5 Pro looks to continue the legacy of the 3S with a UD carbon shaft, ERGO geometry, a TeXtreme carbon fibre weave, an Aerofoam blade core, and slick new cybernetic graphics.
Shaft Construction
The shaft is constructed primarily of a unidirectional carbon fibre weave. UD carbon is a common and reliable weave option for goalie and player hockey sticks alike, as it allows the stick to be tough while also keeping it very lightweight.
Paddle Construction
The stick uses Bauer’s classic ERGO paddle geometry. This shape includes an interesting concave structure that enhances rebound control and allows you to hold the stick closer to your body. It also reduces unnecessary material, making the paddle much more efficient and lighter. Carbon glass in the formation helps toughen the blade.
Blade Construction/Stiffness
The blade is made using a TeXtreme carbon fibre weave with an Aerofoam bridge core. Both of these technologies are used often in Bauer goalie gear due to their reliability and performance. TeXtreme is about 20% more durable compared to other carbon fibre materials, and it is also incredibly lightweight. Aerofoam is responsible for the amazing feel when holding the stick, and the tech is also known for greatly enhancing responsiveness, stability, and control on rebounds.
Graphics
Bauer took a metallic approach with the graphics on their new Mach and M- lines of goalie gear. Representing the future of the Bauer Supreme line, the M5 Pro goalie stick continues to carry a silver colouration in addition to the classic gold accents and cybernetic designs around the top of the paddle. The stick also comes in black, blue, and red variant colourways at stock.
Grip
Griptac is the type of rip that Bauer uses for many of their highest-end sticks. It ensures a great feel at the paddle and shaft while helping you have a strong hold on the stick when you need it.
