For developing players, CCM is releasing the Ribcor Youth hockey stick for 2022. This stick is built with specific features to help young hockey players learn to handle the puck and shoot well too.
Stick Flex Profile
This Ribcor-series stick has a lower kick profile compared to other youth sticks, although it still has been modified to best fit the younger generation. The lie is also optimized for a smaller height, and the lower flex is perfect for empowering shots of developing players.
Shaft Construction & Stiffness
The shaft is both light and durable, with a smaller circumference to allow kids to be able to grip the stick easily and naturally.
Blade Construction
The blade on the Youth stick is a bit stiffer than the shaft, which will help young players control the puck and develop their shots. The stiffer blade will also make it so the blade doesn’t torque as much, making it much easier for players to raise the puck.
Graphics
Design-wise, the Youth stick is a clean combination of the old Ribcor series with the new. Over a black base, the stick keeps both the old green and the new purple in the accents, a higher-profile colour scheme tailored for kids who enjoy brighter, more unique designs.
Grip
CCM provided a full grip over the shaft for better stick control. The grip also helps keep the stick from rotating so easily, especially for young players who are still learning their shooting styles.
Blade Patterns, Flex & Stick Length
The Ribcor Youth hockey stick is available in the following blade patterns: P29.
P29 is the best blade pattern for all-around play, with a mid-curve style. It is great at handling the puck in small spaces, including face-offs. Due to its balanced design, this pattern can be described as the perfect beginner blade.
