Intro & New Features
With a new season comes some brand-new designs and graphics. CCM has been experimenting with their Tacks line across the board this year, particularly in the AS-V Pro, and their highest price point Tacks stick is putting a new meaning to the “V” in its name. The new Tacks AS-V Pro features a new modern mid kick point, a Skeleton+ taper, a new Sigma STP carbon weave, and Variable “V” geometry.
Stick Flex Profile
The game is only getting faster and faster, so your equipment must be able to keep up. CCM’s mid kick Tacks line has been redesigned to follow the speed of the game with its new modern mid kick point, which is engineered specifically to empower wrist shots. As Tacks has always done, the AS-V Pro can still dish out some powerful slap shots, but now with the modern mid kick point, you can get your wrist shots off with just as much power, speed, and consistency.
One of the big upgrades on the AS-V Pro stick is the new Sigma STP carbon weave, which was developed with hockey players in mind. This weave works closely with the returning Nanolite Carbon Layering to further increase the sticks’ durability and balance. Nanolite Carbon Layering is a high-quality carbon layering technique that both enhances load efficiency and increases durability. Near the hosel, the Skeleton+ taper returns to add more durability in that area. This taper compresses more of the carbon materials in that area, resulting in more durability and efficiency when loading without adding any weight.
The big change in the AS-V Pro is the new Variable “V” geometry along the shaft. This “V” shape is exactly as it sounds and offers greater control and consistency on the shot, specifically with wrist shots.
Blade Construction
With the AS-V Pro, CCM has further upgraded the Acufeel blade to the next generation, which applies Sigma STP into the construction for increased durability. For greater puck feel and shot power, the blade is a bit softer than that in other sticks, but still has the right amount of stiffness for good control and accuracy.
Graphics
The AS-V Pro follows the same patterns as the revamped Tacks line in terms of graphics. For the 2022 season, Tacks switches to a more gold colouration with more modernized and techy text logos.
Grip
In line with the graphics, the Superfast Microfeel grip is raised strategically along the middle section of the shaft to greatly enhance puck control while giving the stick a more natural feel.
Blade Patterns, Flex & Stick Length
The Tacks AS-V Pro Junior hockey stick is available in the following blade patterns: P28, P29, P88, and P90TM.
P29 is the best blade pattern for all-around play, with a mid-curve style. It is great at handling the puck in small spaces, including face-offs. This curve may suffer a little bit on the backhand. P90TM is very similar to the P29, but it is just a bit taller with a P28 toe curve.
P28 is a much more aggressive stick pattern, used often by elite players. This blade curve specializes in quick and accurate shots, but it can be a bit difficult to get used to since it is also very good at raising the puck.
P88 is a relatively traditional curve. A popular choice in the past, it excels greatly in stickhandling, quick wrist shots, and controlling snap shots.
